The Best Dog Walking Spots In The UK

It’s National Walking Month and with not one, not two but three May Bank Holidays this year, there’s plenty of opportunity to get outside and explore with your four-legged friends.

We teamed up with Forest Holidays to bring you the best dog walking spots across the UK from Deerpark, Cornwall to Strathyre in Scotland.

With 11 holiday locations nestled within beautiful natural settings across our country’s woodland, Forest Holidays offer pet-friendly cabins, making it easier to sniff out the perfect holiday!

Read on for the best walking spots in the UK….

Walks in the South and South West

If your pup prefers a stroll through forest or a flat trail track, then the Black Forest in Hampshire is just the spot for you. Located an hour from London, this tranquil woodland area has plenty of routes suitable for different walking abilities and various dog breeds.

If your hound is more ‘water baby’ than ‘woodland explorer’, then set sail for Deerpark, Cornwall for a landscape guaranteed to take your breath away. Only 15 minutes from the Cornish coast and the pretty fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, you're guaranteed to find a coastal path or scenic beach walk that your pup will adore.

Best Places to Stay - With Forest Holiday locations in both Deerpark, Cornwall and the Black Forest in Hampshire, you can plan your doggy days out - rest assured that your woodland cabin has facilities to clean off after a mucky day.

Walks in Scotland

For those hounds looking for a little more piste in their doggy days out, the Victorian village of Strathyre in Scotland is a fine spot. At the gateway to the Highlands and surrounded by forest, loch and mountains, Strathyre is the very essence of Scotland.

Best Places to Stay - When it comes to Scottish stays, there are cosy cabins in both Strathyre and Ardgartan Argyll, offering dog-friendly accommodation for only £15 per pup, per night.

Walks in Wales and the North West

Snowdonia National Park in North Wales has challenging mountain ranges that many dog parents dream of ticking off the bucket list. Home to the highest mountain in Wales and England, Snowdon, these snow-capped peaks aren’t for the faint hearted.

If the mountain ranges of Snowdon aren’t ideal for your hound, or you prefer somewhere with more open fields and tranquil woodland strolls, then the Delamere Forest in Cheshire is the ideal place for you.

Best Places to Stay - Up to four pets can stay in one Forest Holidays pet-friendly cabin and with locations in both Beddgelert, Snowdonia and Delamere Forest, Cheshire there’s no better excuse to visit this corner of the country.

Walks in North Yorkshire

Yorkshire is home to some of England’s most beautiful moorland and of course, the Yorkshire Dales, both of which provide more than adequate walkies for you and your companion.

Located in the Northerly tip of the county, the North York Moors National Park is a hidden world of sunlit glades, tumbling brooks and fantastic routes perfect for those looking for a new adventure with their doggos.

Best Places to Stay - Just a 40 minute drive from Whitby and right on the doorstep of the North York Moors, Keldy hosts dog-friendly cabins where you and your furry friend can put your paws up - or if the Cropton woodland is more your style, Forest Holidays also has a relaxing spot there.
